Thank You Molalla Replanting Volunteers!
On Saturday, February 22nd, 18 incredible volunteers came together to plant 500 native willow saplings along the Molalla River, helping to restore critical habitat for wild fish.
Replanting with a variety of native species will accelerate the establishment of a robust riparian plant community in the restored areas. This will enhance shade and help reduce water temperatures in restoration areas, providing crucial relief for fish and wildlife as the ecosystem continues to recover from the 2020 wildfires.
To our volunteers: None of this would have been possible without your enthusiastic boot-on-the-ground participation! Your dedication, hard work, and willingness to give back to your homewaters have helped make this restoration project continue to be successful - thank you!
To our Molalla Restoration Project Partners: Thank you for your collaboration and commitment to restoring critical fish habitat in the Molalla River. Your efforts are making a lasting difference in bringing this community watershed back to life.
And a special thank you to Liz Perkin - NFS Northern Oregon Coordinator since 2021, Liz has led efforts like this throughout the region and made a lasting impact on the Molalla, the Deschutes, the Willamette, and beyond. As this is Liz’s final week with Native Fish Society, we want to recognize her dedication, leadership, and passion for wild fish conservation. Liz, your work has inspired so many, we’re incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done, and wish you the best at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife!
